Kanser dan genetik

Biologi Kanser

A family history of breast cancer means having one or more blood relatives who have, or had, breast or ovarian cancer. These relatives could be on either the father's, or the mother's side of the family.Breast cancer that occurs in your mother's or father's family are both important in your family.

How is familial breast cancer inherited?
Each one of us inherit two copies of each of our genes - one copy from our mother and one copy from our father. Only one of the two inherited copied of the gene needs to be faulty to cause an increased risk to breast cancer. if your mother or father carries a faulty gene, she/he will also have a normal copy. This means that you have a 50:50 chance of inheriting a faulty copy and a 50:50 chance of inheriting the normal copy. If you inherit a faulty copy, you will have a 50:50 chance of passing it on to your children. Oleh itu bertindaklah lebih awal bak pepatah inggeris berbunyi, "Prevention Is Better Than Cure".

Siapa yang dinasihatkan pergi untuk Genetik counselling?
Women who are thought to be at moderate/high risk of developing breast canser should seek genetic counselling.
A trained clinical geneticist or genetic counsellor is someone with special knowledge of the link between genes and inherited illnesses, and will help you understand your family history and your risk of developing breast cancer.

Apa salahnya kits barusaha sedikit sebelum "Nasi menjadi Bubur".
